Sometimes referred to as a hexagon bolt, but if fully threaded it is a screw, both are for securing two items together using a nut and washer, or sometimes secured by screwing into a tapped hole. So a hexagon set screw is fully threaded whereas a hexagon bolt is only partially threaded, the rest of the shank is plain. This is for strength when the bolt has to be very secure. Hexagon screws are made of steel or brass. Hexagon screws are also available with one size smaller hexagon head. These are popular in model engineering where realism with strength is required.
